Afton: A New Beginning

It was a busy day for the both of us. Having the day off, I did laundry and got to a couple of things that needed my attention in the house. And then I went outside and used weed killer on things that just won't go away by pulling them up. I then worked on my new garden along side the garage. Like I need more to do. Right?

My husband, Dennis, was taking care of the clutter around the shop and the large shed. He has been moving equipment out of the area--things I can't even tell you what they were for at one time. One was a "cherry picker", another had been used to burn things, and it was on wheels...

Anyway, he was doing his thing all day, like me. He even got out other equipment, like electric chain saw--oh, boy does he like that thing. He worked on clearing out an large honeysuckle bush, and cleaned an area of junk and now there is a picnic table underneath the large maple tree, and you can see the wetlands from the shop, now. You couldn't do that before.

More needs to be done, but little by little he's getting things cleaned up around here. The old boss is gone and he's taken over. I think anyone who hasn't been here in a while will probably be surprised by the change.

If I ever get caught up on things inside and out, I'll be surprised. But there's always the moment, in the evening, after my hot bubble bath, and before dinner when I can walk out to the edge of the property and look out at the wetlands, listen to the constant sounds of geese, and the twittering of birds. An Oriole has been flitting from one tree to another. I think he likes it here.

I'll leave you with a picture of the wetlands with a certain haze in the morning. The photographer, Tom Robins, captures a bit of the serenity I experience here, and no where would I rather be on Memorial Day Weekend, when every one's out on the road trying to get somewhere.

I'm already there.  Have a good weekend everyone!

Teaser Tuesday ~ Vampire's Trill

I don't know about you, but I love vampire humor.

Well, kiddies, today is Teaser Tuesday and since I've got a novel poised to come out, barring hurricans, floods, and other natural desasters (oh, didn't you see yesterdays post about tornadoes???It was fantastic, and you should really check it out. The pictures alone will make you gasp!),  I don't see why it shouldn't be out this coming fall. . . ahem.

So, I opened up my docurment for Vampire's Trill, scrolled to some random page and viola!

Let's see what Sabrina is up to now!

Slinking off to the bathroom, I dressed. The jeans fit perfectly, so did the T-shirt, but I didn't use the bra, or the panties because that would be tacky, whether they fit me or not.

"Who's things are these?" I asked, coming out of the small bathroom.

"Those were Becky's."

"Becky?" I stood into the boots he had set on the floor. They were my size--lo and behold.

"Frank's womans' things," he added.

"Yeah. Hey, I'm sorry to hear about her--God." I stared down at the floor. I couldn't imagine how that must have been. She'd had blue eyes, and brown hair that she dyed blonde, and long fingernails that she went to get done weekly.  She was pretty, I thought. My inner eye was seeing her, mainly because I was wearing her clothes. F-ing great.

Okay my pretties! There you have it.

Also, a little celebration--I went over 80,000 words in my WIP, and I didn't even realize it. I was working on trying not to write all day. And darn it, the funniest thing happened. I wrote the damned scene I was trying to avoid. Doesn't that just beat all?

To All My Friends, Stalkers & Lurkers: May Updates

Good morning, lurkers, stalkers and friends!

I'm home today. Sort of fortunate I am, since I've done something to my back and I'm in pain. But I'm doing the ice/heat/ice/heat/ice thing. I have scoliosis, and since I don't have health care I can't go to a chiropractor--which is what I would do if I could.

But enough about that.

I'm happy to have the day off. I've gone and visited some of you folks, and looks as though I've won an ebook. I just hope I can down load it. I'd like to read something by Carole Gill. I will give up-date on this as things happen.

Also, I will be posting something from our friend, Sumiko, this week. Last week just dished out more than I could handle, and I did not have the luxury of time to do much on my posts, so this one will be delayed, but will be coming up.

Speaking of give aways, I'm about to have another one. Yes. If any of you have been lurking to see if I'd have another give away for Vampire Ascending, you might just want to take advantage of this one, since I'm not sure when I'll next have another one. I'm just saying.

So, please stay tuned, lurk, or whatever you do to keep posted on when and where I'll be this next week. I love stalkers, so come on out and stalk me!!!

Since I'm in a chatty mood, I've changed my header over on my Vampire Writer's Retreat, I think it's great looking.

I'm also, as some of you know, working on the second book to be sent off to my wonderful publisher, and I'm working on the third book, as time allows, here and there . If I had more time, I'd be able to work on both at the same time, but sort of hard to write while driving a transit bus. I just can't multi-task that!

I'm also working on little titillations for the second book with Yolanda, editor at Copperhill Media, who does fine work on our manuscripts as well as certain blog posts I submit to her for frogenyozert.com. I've sent her something for this week and I'll put the latest link here for any of you lurkers and stalkers, as well as my regulars who actually leave me nice little comments. You all know who you are!

I've got ice on my back, but need to change to heat. I'm not sure how long to do this, I'll wait until the bottom of the hour, I guess.

Also, I'm reading Angelology. I've gotta say, my fellow readers/writers, this is one book I do recommend, if only for the absolute mastery of her telling this tale. I will put together a review once I've finished it.

So, enjoy your second day of May, and stop by often, I love stalkers, lurkers and all my friends out there.

Updates

What a long summer it has been. If it seems I've been quiet lately it's because of my mother-in-law's health, and having to travel 300 miles to visit her in the hospital. Not sure what will happen next.

Seems health issues have been the main theme for my family all around this summer.

I've been reading Karen Chance's thrilling book Embrace the Night. Unfortunately I didn't read the second one. I guess I thought this was the second one. But it's very good, once I figured out what was happening.

At some point this week, I will be interviewing Anita E. Viljoen whose book Feeders has just been released. I'm very excited that she has been kind enough to allow me to introduce her to all of you. So be looking for that.

J.L. Jackson and I have been swapping chapters, thanks to our Weekly Chapter Guru, E.J. Wesley, who has posted that our group over at Writer's Digest is now 60 members strong!

AUDIO BOOK NOW AVAILABLE!

Hi, everyone, I have some great news! My first Sabrina Strong book, Ascension, is now in an audio book format.  NOW THAT I HAVE YOUR ATTE...
