The Edits are off to Publisher

Well, my pretties, as you all know I have been busy and with the edits coming to me on Saturday afternoon, you know I had to get right to them. I've had people accost me in the street, grabbing me by the coat, shaking me and asking me while gnashing their teeth "WHEN IS THE NEXT BOOK COMING OUT SO I CAN BUY IT!"

Well, I had to tell them as soon as I got the edits and a book cover that I only needed to go through the edits and okay them. I've just finished them and hopefully my publisher will be able to take what I sent him and turn it into an ebook/paperback.

With any edits you have to go through it line by line--with your own version to compare with. Seems that editors want to change things around. Which is fine, but I didn't like that they would change what characters might say to one another. In one case the whole sentence was changed. I had what I had and I put it back the way I had it. There's other things that needed to be watched for like where I had elipsis they sort of got shortened, and sometimes there was a comma after it. Big question mark there. And it made me have to check and see what was changed. Sometimes the changes muddled up a whole sentence, so I had to restructure it to something legible.

Well, anyway, I'm going to place the cover of Vampire Nocturne here so that you can all gaze at it. It should be available soon.

Just sent final edits off to publisher... now to wait for it to come out!

Edits on Vampire's Trill DONE!

Edits are done--WOOHOO! And I hope I can get some rest tonight, not thinking about the work. I can't stand for things to be unfinished, waiting for me to get back to it.

With December closing in, I realize that the first aniversary of Vampire Ascending is coming up. I had gotten notice last year that my copy of the book would be sent to me, and was sent on the third of December--oddly enough also on our wedding aniversary! Last year we were on our way for a 2-night get away in the cabins at White Pines. The book arrived the next week, and I was thrilled to see it. So was my husband. He snagged it and wouldn't let me touch it again as he sat in the evenings to read it, feeling pride in his wife, the writer as he did. He became my biggest fan, and supporter, especially when I had my book signing at Borders in January, talking to a lot of people about it, and selling a few copies for me with his spirited sales pitch.

Anyway, if all goes well, it looks as though this second book will come out right around this time as well. The eBook will be first, and the paperback will come out there after. And once it does I will do my best to get some sort of book signing at B&N.

And I'm about to make my rounds at the blogs with this, so, if you are interested in give-aways, I will be announcing these soon. I'm slated to be on Suburban Vampire on November 30th, but it might be too soon to have a give away then. I also will be on VampChix on December 5th. I
I will be on Heather McCorkle's blog also, but the date hasn't been worked out, as yet.

Anyone else out there who wishes to host me on their blog, please e-mail me (see my contact info).

With the new book coming out I decided that I needed to make a better place for fans of the series to come at facebook to leave messages, find out what is going on with my books, etc. So, this morning--in the wee hours--I got a new facebook page up for Fans of Vampire Ascending/Sabrina Strong Series. I've already invited a couple of people who have been strong supporters in the past, and they are already there making comments about the new book. Come join us if you're a fan, or simply want to check it out. You're more than welcome, as it is an open group!

I'm hopeful to make new friends and fans in the coming weeks and months!

Edits Are Done!

Yes. The edits of my book are finished! They arrived (disk via snail mail) on Tuesday. I conquered them in two nights. I simply have a system, and since I didn't have any trouble with the changes--mainly spelling, grammar, some punctuation, and mostly extra spaces--I was able to merely copy the document onto another document and went through to double check, and it went really fast.

I've just sent the chapters in segments that ranged from 90-31 pages, and that took me 10 minutes to send 5 emails with attachments out. Hopefully they arrived and are awaiting Yolanda's laser-eyes to make sure things are good.

Now I sigh slightly, and have a nice white zin while I write this.

The possibility of this book being available end of the month rests in Coppherhill's hands at the moment.

CELEBRATION! (Almost)

Because I was on this short hiatus, I've been unable to post anything, obviously. And my other host bloggers are quiet as well. I know why Sumiko hasn't submitted, and that is understandable. When life happens, we are unable to do much about it, so I'll have to pick up the slack here.

I hope to this weekend.

I've been working on the third novel in the vampire series, and have made a little progress on who my villain is, and have written--as I so often do--a scene ahead of where I am. I write what's in my head. It's not always in sequence. I can fill things in. And another scene I've been thinking about is there, but--well, I've got 5days off from work for Thanks Giving coming up, and that will probably be when I begin to find time to work on it. (I have plenty on my To Do List)

I've advised Yolanda (editor for Copperhill), that I hope to send her the next book--which she is very excited about reading--in January. I hope to do edits--to my best abilities--during our Christmas break, which we, at Huskie, have learned will be 3 weeks, not the normal 2. It will be a lean, lean Christmas, here in the Bell house. So, to work on the book is what I will do, working when we are able to (about 10 days prior, and maybe 5-6 after). My husband has taken the second shift, and I have taken the first shift for those days we do drive a limited service for the NIU buses. Then we go on unemployment. Yippee.

Well, my hope is that Vampire Ascending sells like eggnog on a cold Christmas Eve. I will be contacting the manager at Borders as soon as I know this is available. Or sooner. I may jump the gun and try and get in on anything going on in December for a signing.

When I get information on the book; when, where, how much, etc. I will post it all over the place, so stay tuned.

AUDIO BOOK NOW AVAILABLE!
