BROCCOLI SALAD
2 small heads of broccoli - Florets, cut into bite size pieces
2 large slices red onion - chopped (red gives it color, but any will do)
3-4 slices turkey bacon, cooked & crumbled
1/2 c. Sharp cheddar cheese - shredded or cubed
1/2 c. mayo -- which ever brand you like, we prefer Miracle Whip because it has no high corn sweeteners in it.
1 1/2 T. vinegar
1 T. sugar ( or to taste)
I mix the wet ingredients and sugar into the broccoli florets and begin adding each thing while stirring and mixing. (Love to crumble the baccon in). Like any salad you will have to decide how much mayo you want, and if you like pepper, go for it. I know a number of times I've seen it with raisins in it, but that's up to you, if you like to add anything else to it, like Mandarin oranges or something crazy like that.
Hope you all have a great, and safe holiday! See you all next week!
Happy Independence day to you too! I'm so sorry you have to work! I'll have the day off for the first time in six years so we're celebrating! Whoo! Thanks for the great recipe. I may just have to make it tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteOh, you should, Heather. And tell everyone you got it from me [;
ReplyDeleteHappy Independance Day!!!
Lorelei
Hi, Lorelei. I'm sorry you have to work, too. I needed this three-day weekend real bad. Work has been crazy busy, and I have had so many deadlines recently with the magazine that I write for. I needed the time to write the articles!!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to re-evaluating things. I have decided to post less often and visit blogs more. We'll see!
Take care,
-Jimmy
Well, great, Jimmy. Always happy to see your smiling face (:
